Our sheep produce delicious organic lamb, but that is only half of the story – we have always been keen to make the most of their organic wool.
Our small flock includes Charollais, Lleyn and Zwartbles sheep - about 120 ewes in total. The Zwartbles have a magnificent black fleece, so this gives us a good number of black lambs frolicking about in the spring!

Shearing usually takes place at the beginning of June and with encouragement from the rest of the family, we have selected the best fleeces and it has been spun locally in Launceston. So we now have three natural, un-dyed colours of organic knitting wool that are available in 100g skeins of double knitting yarn.
Rosie’s sister Tricia, is a knitting tutor and designer, so she uses our wool for her designs and her knitting. She says “The wool works especially well with textured patterns: garments with cables, other Aran features and lace patterns all look wonderful with Wonnacott Organic Wool”
